Writer/Director/Producer
ANTHONY LEIGH ADAMS is a writer, producer and director with credits in film, television and theatre. For television, he has written over 30 episodes for such diverse series as Disney’s Duck Tales, Jim Henson’s Fragglerock and Universal’s She Wolf of London. He also wrote and produced the ABC movie, Badge of Betrayal, starring Harry Hamlin and the NBC movie, Murder or Memory, starring Emmy-winner, Leigh Taylor Young. With his partner, Christina Adams, he’s developed a number of projects for Disney, Tri-Star, Universal, Hearst Entertainment, ABC and NBC, among others.
Anthony has directed a number of award-winning videos and short films, including The Deflowering of Budd Stump, starring Christopher Atkins. His feature film directing debut, Lost Lake, was released on DVD in 2005 by Warner Brothers Home Video, after a limited theatrical release.
In addition to his work in film and television Anthony is also an accomplished playwright and composer. He has directed many of his original plays and musicals in London and San Diego, including The Adventures of Olig and Obster, A Song For Gar, An Eye In Each Head, The Living Cell and The Great Relativity Bomb Plot. He also composed music for the national touring production of The Grapes Of Wrath, starring Ed Harris and toured as a performer with the Harry Partch Ensemble.
In 2006, Anthony co-wrote and directed the world premiere of Primal Twang: The Legacy of the Guitar, a theatrical journey through the colorful and surprisingly controversial 3500-year history of the guitar, featuring electrifying live performances by world music legend, Dan Crary and an all-star ensemble of guitar greats, including Grammy-winners, Eric Johnson, Albert Lee, Andrew York, Mason Williams and Doc Watson. The production debuted to enthusiastic sold-out audiences at San Diego’s Birch North Park Theatre. Anthony also directed the filming of the performances for commercial release.
After completing postproduction on the Primal Twang documentary, Anthony co-wrote and directed Love-In: A Musical Celebration, which premiered at San Diego’s Birch North Park Theatre in 2007. As with Primal Twang, he directed the filming of the performances for commercial release. Love-In, starring Tony Award-winner, Ben Vereen, is the second in a series of musical documentaries to be produced by Adams Entertainment. The next in the series, Country Roots, will dramatize the history of country music with legendary musical guests and will continue the innovative fusion of music, film and theatre introduced by Primal Twang and Love-In.
Besides producing live theatre and musical documentaries, Anthony and Christina Adams are developing a slate of feature films to be produced by Adams Entertainment, including My Brother - My Enemy, A Killing Season and Nuevo Sol. |
